Frequently asked questions

What counts as an "Inkfold-managed message"?

A message where Inkfold routes to a vendor using our own API credits. Messages sent using your own vendor API key (bring your own key) don't count against your monthly quota — you pay the vendor directly.

What are pay-as-you-go credits?

Credits you top up any time, charged per message at cost + a small margin. They never expire. All plans can use credits — they cover overages when your monthly quota runs out.

What are the multi-model modes (Council, Ensemble, etc.)?

Pro modes send your prompt to multiple AI vendors simultaneously and synthesize the results. Cost varies by mode: Compare, Council, and Ensemble modes cost approximately 5× a single call; Pipeline costs approximately 4×; Debate mode costs approximately 10× for adversarial synthesis across multiple rounds. Free plan is limited to Auto and Single mode.

What is "bring your own key"?

You add your personal API keys from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and other vendors. Inkfold routes through your keys — you pay the vendor directly at cost with no markup. Available on all plans.

What is "bring your own storage"?

Connect your own Cloudflare R2, AWS S3, or compatible bucket. Your conversation history is stored in your cloud account, not ours. Pro and above.

Can I cancel or downgrade any time?

Yes. Cancel or downgrade from Settings → Billing. Paid features stay active until the end of your billing period. No lock-in.

What happens to my data if I downgrade?

Your history is retained but access reverts to the Free plan limits (90-day view window, 2 devices). Nothing is deleted — data outside the 90-day window is simply not displayed until you re-upgrade.

Are all privacy modes free?

Yes. Smart, Private, and Incognito modes are available on every plan. Privacy is never paywalled.
